Yes they’re basically monster movies and yes the female characters have as much development as a drippy nosed 14 year old boy BUT every winter I watch them religiously with a fire going and candles burning and every winter I love them.

I really like both of these guys in this.

I’d never seen an interview with Frank Zappa. I must say its surprising to me that he’s such a cool cat. Having grown up periodically hearing his zany music (and vocal style) I guess I just assumed he was a zany guy.

We’re supposed to come away wishing he had been allowed to make DUNE but if you’ve seen El Topo and Holy Mountain then you know that for all his stunning visuals he still had the narrative skills of a drunk cokehead.

They had a great thing goin until some dumbass decided to make it about kids losing their parents and thus insuring that it sucks.

Courtney’s Books: Flashman

Ok this book is awesome in that Wodehouse/Don’t Point That Thing At Me kind of way except that when this guy screws his rich dad’s girlfriend then later punches her in the face and calls her a whore and naturally made me really wonder why I’m still reading it. I of course thought that those other guys didn’t do that.

I guess the point here is that the English have a fascination with the scoundrel-hero and this guy is just pushing it to see how far his rather spectacular writing skills can carry it. Pretty far, I’d say, cuz I’m pretty sure I’m gonna read the whole thing and really quite like it.
