Here are the first two tracks from my favorite record. This group is called The Whole Noyse. They’re from San Francisco. I came across this a couple years ago and it’s been topping the charts in my house and computer since the day I got it. I have also been trying to get them to play on our next record. Not sure where that stands. Their record is called Lo Splendore d’Italia. I have a feeling it will get a lot more airplay at our upcoming Italian themed Xmas shows. Fun.

Me and Fatty, The Dutch Masters, are playing at a pretty cool benefit this Saturday. It’s for 2 organizations that provide job experience & music resources for homeless kids in Portland. There will be an auction of glass orbs that local artists have done and a bunch of other things that could make for cheap, nifty Christmas presents. These people do really good work and it’ll be super fun. Voodoo Doughnuts, a marching band, Hot Dog on a Stick, aerial acrobats, a drag queen and Kevin and Anita from Viva Voce are playing too. Here’s a track from a record Jacob and I mixed. They’re called The Wolfmen. It’s a couple guys from Adam and the Ants with a dude from Massive Attack (and others) and Sinead O’Conner even sings on one. The record is fantastic and has just been picked up by Sony for release in March. This track is about Marilyn Monroe so I call it “Marilyn Monroe”. Not sure what they’ll call it.

Alright, this fuckin book A Fraction of the Whole is turning out to be the most amazing book I have ever read. Who is this fuggin guy? It is so micro detailed with style and deep meaning and experience that it would not surprise me to hear that it was actually a project involving like forty writers and then the single greatest editor in the history of the english language. Really! Who is this fuckin guy?
I am exactly as exasperated whilst reading it as I am by Oscar Wilde or PG Wodehouse. Or fuggin Shakespeare for that matter. But its modern. Its all that, and in the language I most understand.
Jesus. You gotta see this to believe it.

Okay I’m only about seventy pages in but I keep feeling like this is my favorite book ever. About every other page I just get overwhelmed. Amazing. Jeez this guy is so deeply wise and funny as hell.
UPDATE 10/14/09: I just had a friend ask me what he should read next. Alright, let me just say again, read this book. It is still blowing my mind every day. Amazing in every way. Best book ever. Holy.
