Just a reminder, Zia will be soothing your St. Patrick’s hangover with her show on W + K Radio is this morning at 11a (Pacific). Listen at W + K Radio, on your media player (iTunes, etc.), or below in the embedded player.
You will be pleased to know that we have selected the winner of our Mis Amigos Remix Contest – make way for Luc, who will receive a one-time pressing on Acetate of his mix signed by the band. Nice one, Luc. We’ve put together a playlist featuring some of our favorite mixes. Listen below, they’re great.
We didn’t forget the designers – the winner of the cover design will be announced next week.
And hey, thanks to everyone who sent in their remix – you guys did a great job, so much so we really had our work cut-out for us in selecting a winner. We want everyone to hear your cool tune – if you haven’t done so, or if you have any other remix or mash-up you want to to hear, share it on Soundcloud. Thanks again, guys.
Just a reminder, the virgin voyage of Zia’s show on W + K Radio is this morning at 11a (Pacific). You can listen at W + K, on your media player (like iTunes), or below in the embedded player.
Zia’s now got a coveted slot on Wieden + Kennedy’s WK Radio, which streams out of the renowned Portland ad agency’s HQ to the world at large. You can catch DJ Zia Rescue Wednesdays starting March 11 from 11-12n (PST).
You can stream what’s happening right now on WK Radio by pressing play below. Zia’s not currently on, but we’ll Tweet the morning of to remind you. (If you haven’t already, be sure to hook up with our Twitter feed.)
Congratulations Portland! We finally won the honor of Unhappiest City in The US. Thanks to all the cloudy days, high suicide rates and shite economy we win! Now maybe all those developers and business folks will think twice before adding another ‘Pearl’ to Portland. Leave us be, leave us to our rain and grief, our coffee and cigarettes, our dark arts. Oh wait, is that it? Did we get even sadder now that we have to smoke outside in the rain? Is that what finally got us crowned as The Saddest? Sadder than New Orleans, St. Louis and Detroit? Well so be it.
Hey man, what are you up to? We’re still in the development phase for this site, figuring out what we want to do, what should go where, all that jazz. We’ll figure it all out. Thanks for coming by to read what we have going on so far. A lot more is on the way, for sure.
At the Oddy, we’re finishing up out Earth To The Remix EP Vol 2 which is due to be in stores on April 18 for Record Store Day. With all-new remixes by The Dandy Warhols, it’s something you really should not miss. (And if you’re a subscriber to our Subscription Service, you know you won’t miss a damn thing.)
Got Twitter? We do. Follow us over there. (We gotta come up with a better word for “tweets”, though. I mean, this is Oregon, we have bigger birds than ones that go “tweet.”) Anyway, that’s over there, so check it out.
Finally, our Beat The World label mates Spindrift and The Upsidedown are now on tour in the western U.S. Together, in some cases – like tonight, here in Portland. You would feel really dumb if you missed these two awesome groups. “And what did you do while Spindrift and The Upsidedown were in town?” “Oh, I had my thump up my butt.” No.
More news on the way soon, I’m sure. Unless we get hit by an asteroid. Did you hear about that? Scary. Take cover.
The Dandys’ cover of the Cure’s “Primary” is available for free along with this week’s NME special tribute to The Cure, pictured with me on the cover looking all bashful. (Oh, that’s Robert Smith.) “Pictures of You, A Tribute to Godlike Geniuses of the Cure.” Get it at your local, what do they call ’em over there, news agents?
If you can’t pic up the mag, our song is still available on the double length Cure tribute Perfect As Cats, available in stores and on iTunes.
UPDATE: Yes, Lee, thanks. This special edition of NME drops in your lap Feb 28th.
Also, this message comes from Robert Smith:
“I LOVE THE DANDY WARHOLS AND I LOVE THIS PRIMARY COVER!”
