Some stooge. Been runnin' things 'round here since 2000.

Baby Jesus, Turn It UP!

The Geezers shindig was a lot of funn. Thanks to all of you who came out on a cold night. Thanks to the Geezers as well, David, Sam, Galo, Jeremy, and Chaz. We had a blast. We should definitely do it again.

We had our annual Xmas Party last night. Oh brother! The General took Santa’s Chair this year, as we had our largest, loudest party yet. The annual Gift Grab had some great items for the taking this year, including a homemade nativity scene, a pocketbook full of rubber mice, a Cuban cigar, silk underwear, two bongs, edible thongs, a Girls Gone Wild DVD, leather jackets, loads of boozes. What a frenzy. We should have some pics from this later in the week.

We’re still doing some construction at the Oddy, upgrading our control room, making it all Death Star and shit. It should be done this week. After that, a little break for Christmas, and then right back to work recording new tunes. If you were at the Geezers show, you heard a few of ’em. We’re really excited for everyone to hear what we have. Shouldn’t be too long.

Awesome!

A Live Meeting Of Bigger Geezers

Geezers

Sam Flores. Jeremy Fish. Galo. David Choe. The London Police. All legends. But who would have thought to bring theses artists together in one place, at one time, to collaborate on a massive scale. And who would have thought to have the coolest band on the planet play a massive set of rock while these artists worked above the crowd in Portland’s Wonder Ballroom.

All signs point to The Dandy Warhols.

Yeah, so we thought we’d brings these geezers together, let ’em have at it, crank out some tunes, make a shameless shindig out of it. And, somehow, we knew you would want to see it. Honestly, though, we think it’s going to be quite historic, and if you miss it…well, what are you going to tell your kids?

Zia and Gothy updates

From Zia:

Hey All,
Our touring season has come to an end.
It was a really great summer but now we can’t wait to get back into the studio. We’ve slid right back into a rehearsal schedule and I swear our songs have never sounded better. Old and new, we’re just having a blast rockin’ in our own space. The leaves are falling and the rain is in full effect, a perfect time to be indoors making rock. We’ll keep busy this winter so we can bring you some new tunes for next summer.

from Gothy:

Hey, what’s up? We have something cool going on in Portland mid December that we will be announcing any day now. It’s a show, but it’s bigger than “just” a show.” We’ll let you know all the details as soon as we can.

A lot of you have been asking where to send in the remixes and mash-ups you have made using our songs. Well, now, instead of hunting around and sending them to Gothy or The General or Zia or whomever, you can just post them to remix@dandywarhols.com, and we’ll pick ’em up from there. Can’t wait to hear what you have for us. Should be awesome.

I Got A Rock

BOO!

Hey, we’re in the Bay Area this week, playing a show with Tom Petty in Berkeley on Friday, the 27th. Maybe you’ll see us lurking around The City as well, mwah haw haw.

Happy Halloween and stuff.

Petty

We’re going to open up for rock legend Tom Petty for a couple of shows coming up. The first is this next week in Madison, Wisconsin at the Colesium at the Alliant Energy Center on September 12. The second show is October 27th in Berkeley at the Greek Theater. Oh yeah. Should be pretty awesome.

From Zia

Sept. 4, 2006

So what have we been up to for the past 6 weeks?
I’ll tell ya.
We played a sick ass show with The Rolling Stones in Portugal
Too bad Mick got sick and our other scheduled shows with them were canceled.
So instead we went to Barcelona for a three day vacation.
Did some gigs and festis in the UK – they all rocked (in the rain of course).
After this casual schedule of rockin’ and restin’
we headed for Greece for a proper island vacation.
Ya know the type, pool side reading and sea side eating.
It was great!
Gothman and The General Lee were new to the island.
Lee was seen scootering back and forth from the internet cafe
making sure business wasn’t held up by our vacation.
I’m sure Gothy will tell you all about his experience
but my favorite was seeing him with the reverse racoon-eye
sunburn from his shades.
Pete went on a strict two-greek-salad-a-day diet
and suntanned with Michele,
Courtney and Lockett explored the island by motorbike.
Fathead (with our friend Neener) did some pirate DJing
on the islands local radiostation,
and Travis and I chased Matilda around and tought her to swim
(well at least splash).
Our lovely soundguy Dylan did watch Matilda one night so Travis and
I could have a night out, what a sweety.
After Greece we headed to Mexico City to support the Strokes
and play for 18,000 mexican hipsters.
It was awesome!
We are now back at home but not done with the rock.
We of course have our two gigs with BJM coming up
and we just got two gigs with Tom Petty.
I know, I know, we need to make another album.
We will I promise, but who could turn down all these great offers
we’ve been getting to play with so many legends.
OK, consider yourselves updated.
Rock On!

Zia

PS- I’ll be checking skinup looking for pictures you guys
have taken of and with the band over the last couple months
so send some in.

Organism Benefit

Court will be playing and all experimental gig this Thursday, July 27th at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland. Now, normally, we’ll tell you in our own words, but it’s really, really hot and the Oddy AC is busted, so here’s the press release:

What: “An inaugural party for a new arts organization with experimental performances by Courtney Taylor-Taylor and other members of The Dandy Warhols, musical group Small Sails as an opener and video art by Pipilotti Rist, arguably the most famous female video artist on the planet.”

Tickets: General Admission Tickets $15, Upper Level VIP Lounge Tickets $40 (includes reserved balcony seating and 2 Complimentary vodka drinks, courtesy of Portland’s own New Deal Vodka Distillery)

About: Organism
Organism is a new non profit contemporary art institution, headed by a familiar name, Jeff Jahn whose serious track record and commitment to high caliber visual art exhibitions with an international outlook are hardly strangers to Portland. This commitment to exhibitions extends to a particular focus on frequent projects by significant outside curators.

Organism is based on three principles of equal importance: first, The quality of the work and the integrity with which it presented; second, operating a nonprofit sustainability, based on the principles of the most successful businesses; third, creating a conversation between creative artists, designers, engineers, filmmakers, architects, business people, ecologists, musicians, entrepreneurs and scientists.

Future shows will continue to expose Portland to significant contemporary art in interesting and challenging settings.
