Some stooge. Been runnin' things 'round here since 2000.

Day Out Shopping

If you’re going to be out shopping anywhere in Europe May the 5th, you may want to swing by your local recorditorium to purchase the new single from The Dandy Warhols called ‘We Used To Be Friends’. And if you have money to burn, buy the seven inch vinyl and DVD singles as well. Then, treat yourself to lunch, because shopping is hard work.

Oh, We Have Songs

We were poking around in the basement recently and found this cryptic list of thirteen ancient pirate sea shanties. How it got there is anyone’s guess, as Oregon has never really seen it’s fair share of pirates. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that these strange little ditties shared the exact same titles as our next record, “Welcome To The Monkey House”. Sweet Jesus!

Welcome to the Monkey House
We Used To Be Friends
Plan A
Wonderful You
Scientist
Over It
The Dandy Warhols Love Almost Everyone
Insincere
You Were The Last High
Heavenly
I Am Sound
Hit Rock Bottom
You Come In Burned

Man, those pirates were smart

We’re Covered

We’re on the cover of the brand new Filter Magazine (issue #4). Look for Sean Gothman’s scarf.

The Dandy Warhols Play Out

It looks like it’s time to pack up the bus and play some gigs. The first shows of our long touring season have been plotted and are ready for your calendar. Check out the SHOWS page to see what’s up.

Welcome To The Monkey House

You have been sitting there staring at blank pages of your diary for a long while now, haven’t you? Nothing has come to pass as it should have. You made plans, but others weren’t tuned into that. So instead of the hassle of assimilating into the culture around you, you have dropped out. The lack of human contact coupled with your relation to this blasted machine has changed you, and you know, you try to say that it’s for the better. You don’t need them. You can live on science alone.

Oh, yeah. Our fourth record, “Welcome To The Monkey House”, will be out internationally in May, in the United States in July.

More details forthcoming…

“The Last High” Preview

Hey, everyone. The latest issue of SPIN Magazine has a Capitol Records CD insert featuring an alternate mix of “The Last High”, which will most likely be the second single off of the next Dandy Warhols’ record. Take a listen and tell us what you think.

Warhols Mourn the Passing of Joe Strummer

The Dandy Warhols wish to extend their deepest love to the family of Joe Strummer. Strummer, best known as vocalist and guitarist for the seminal British punk band The Clash.  He passed away Sunday in his home at  the age of fifty. The Warhols will forever cherish the time, albeit briefly, they have spent with Joe, and definitely consider the thoughts and ideas exchanged with him to be a highlight in their lives. Joe Strummer will be deeply missed.

Peter and Michele Wed

Peter and longtime fiance Michele were married August 3rd at the Holmstrom family home in Portland. The service, witnessed by family, close friends and all the natural forest surroundings, was officiated by Reverend Courtney Taylor.

Warhols Hit (Platinum) Jackpot in Ireland

The Dandy Warhols passed yet another milestone Tuesday (07/02/02) as the band honored with their first ever platinum record. The award, for the 2000 release “Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia”, is for sales in the Republic of Ireland. The Warhols reached ‘gold’ status in Ireland in January, 2002, as well as gold in the United Kingdom in December, 2001, and Australia in April, 2001. The Dandy Warhols will be appearing in Ireland at the annual Witnness Festival July 14.

Rockwave Festival Canceled

This, again, from the band’s manager, Jen:

Sean, There was a change to one of the tour dates. The Rockwave Festival
in Greece wasn’t granted their license, so it was cancelled. And then it
was reinvented as just this big gig in Athens on July 3rd (instead of
2nd). So, now we’re playing with The Cure on the 3rd. Everything else is
still the same. We got to hang out with Robert Smith on Saturday night
at Meltdown…pretty cool. He was a definite highlight, as was playing
with Nina Hagen at the Steelworx Fest. in Luxembourg. Thanks, Jen

Tour Log: First Two Weeks

This comes from The Warhols manager, Jen:

Hey there. How are things with you? We are having an amazing tour. Blew
everyone away at the Meltdown Festival in London Saturday night! The
band did a special 1 hr. set: Be In Mohammad Rave Up Beautiful and
powerful. They played an encore with David Bowie, “White Light/White
Heat,” to a huge crowd. One of those moments no one could forget. Brent
was on congas, Zia on tambourine, Courtney and Pete on guitar. I still
have chills! Coates is working on his journal (Coates Notes?) and taking
tons of photos. Hopefully he’ll find a computer so he can email you
soon…. Thanks, Jen

Warhols, Bowie Cover Velvets at Meltdown

The annual Meltdown Festival, organized this year by none other than The
Dandy Warhols ‘biggest fan’, David Bowie, was, by all accounts, a
smashing success. The culmination of the show was a set by our very own
Warhols, featuring an encore with The Thin White Duke himself. In front
of a crowd which featured the likes of The Cure, Bono, and Brian Eno,
Bowie and The Warhols stunned the crowd with a ‘surprise’ rendition of
the Velvet Underground classic “White Light/White Heat”.
