Dandy fans, music lovers, philanthropists, rockers, mothers, etc.,
Jackie Weissman is close to finishing a documentary call RockNRoll Mamas in which I am one of the primary subjects.
She has started a Kickstarter fund in order to finish editing and secure music rights. While she has met the goal of $8,000, much more is needed for image and music clearance costs, and to help with the expenses that I have accrued while working on composing original pieces for the film. Every little bit helps so please donate today.
PS: This means we’ve played three great shows in a row in Seattle (Neumo’s, Bumbershoot and Showbox), a place I always considered us to be hit or miss. Nice to know we’ve got a place so close to home we can now count on enjoying. Way to go Seattle fans!
If yer lookin’ fer something fun to do Saturday after Thanksgiving, I’ve got just the thing:
Free show at The World Famous Kenton Club.
All kinds of great country covers-Counterfeit Cash and my band Brush Prairie with Norman (they got banjos ‘n shit) headlining.
CLIPPED …More than anything, their 2 hour set brought about a sense of rich perspective on the band’s best works, which are definitely something to be proud of. “Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth” and “We Used to Be Friends” appeared quite early on and garnered a great camaraderie amongst Dandies fans. “I Love You” was ripe with a keener sense of lust and Taylor sang “Holiday” in its most stripped down form by himself after excusing the band and quipping that they all needed to take a break and use the restroom. “Boys Better,” “Bohemian Like You,” and “Get Off” came later and felt epically catchy. Another highlight, “Good Morning” provided such a rich melancholy that one couldn’t help but close her/his eyes just to feel the pleasurable waves pass through the thick air hovering about….
Hello music lovers,
I have my first musical side project and we’re hitting the road! My band, Brush Prairie (acoustic covers of vintage tunes and a few originals) is heading down the West Coast with Hawkeye (featuring my hubby Travis) and 1776 (you must have heard of them by now). We’ll be ending up at the 4th annual Clean Air Clear Stars Festival in Pioneertown, CA and so should you. Or at least get to whichever of the following stops is closest to your pad (or your mom’s):
9/10/10 at Knifefest – The Knife Shop at Kelly’s Olympian, Portland, Oregon
9/11/10 at The World Famous Kenton Club, Portland, Oregon
9/13/10 at Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco, California
9/14/10 at Audie’s Olympic Tavern, Fresno, California
9/15/10 at 3 of Clubs, Los Angeles, California
Sept 18/19 at Clean Air Clear Stars, Pioneer Town, California
This is gonna be a super fun tour and to take it one step further than the amazing festival in the desert there will be a kick ass RECOVERY party at The ACE Hotel Palm Springs on Sept 19 & 20th. When you call The ACE to book your room make sure to mention Clean Air Clear Stars (CACS) for a discount and to get your room grouped with everyone else’s. I’ll be DJing in the Amigo Room Sunday night and poolside Monday afternoon. If your not sure about how much fun you’ll have just ask anyone that was there last year. Middle of the night pool parties and fireside sing alongs is just a start. This is one extended weekend you don’t wanna miss!
PS, if you ever wanna hear me DJ locally I’m at Jinx (232 NW 12th) every friday 4-7 for happy hour and once a month at Jade lounge (24th and SE Ankeny). Both places have a good atmosphere and great food with, of course, perfect music.
A few years back Dave Dahl (Dave’s Killer Bread) became friends and I asked him for a lo-cal bread. He said he would and that he’d name it after me. Well the bread is finally here, not named after me but it does have a very kind dedication on the back label.
If the bread is anywhere near as good as the samples I tested then it’s a superb lo-cal bread AND it even comes in two of his famous variety’s. For those of you unfamiliar with Dave’s Killer Bread READ HERE. You can find his amazing bread in 5 states and counting. Enjoy! And Thanks Killer Dave, you rule!
