The CTT mixed single by The Wolfmen, “July 20”, is also out today. Here is a little interview on the Wolfmen site with Court about working with the Wolfment, interior spaces, and birthdays.
What vibe were after with the July 20 remixes – one with Jacob and the other with Jeremy – were there any influences or source material you used for reference?
With Jake we referenced “Never Met a Girl Like You Before” by that cat from Orange Juice. With Jeremy we referenced that Stranglers tune with the harpsichord (Golden Brown) that got so big again a few years back. Ultimately though, once ya get into a mix it doesn’t really help listening to anything else. We only listen for fun at the beginning. Once you start a mix in earnest you’re on your own.Will you be producing/remixing any other Wolfmen tunes
Oh I’m sure I probably will. They know they can count on me and my guys to churn out cool stuff and since I don’t have to pay for studio time at the Odditorium it saves them a lot of heartache as well as money.July 20 is a birthday shared by you and Chris – are you typical Cancerians
Yeah I think we are. I know that I am fer sure. Very homebody. I’m obsessive about my interiors and they are not only spectacular but ergonomically borderline genius. They have to be, what with me having such a low tolerance for wasted time/space/energy. Another cliché’ is being hard, cold and business-like on the outside but a Mr. Snugglycuddlyman on the inside. Oh I really think that more amazing than all the sex drugs rock n roll birthdays that I can’t quite remember was the fifty foot slip-n-slide on the hill behind my house for my birthday last year. All the booze and chemicals and partying in the world, all the drunk driving and sad lonely endings only happened because there wasn’t a fifty footer in the back yard.Are there any plans for a Dandy Wolfmen team-up? An icebreaker jam has to just sort of “happen” but if I were to script it into the
movie I’d have it be “Suffragette City”(sp) or “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”.Have you managed to see any gems from Marco’s legendary guitar collection.

For years I have wondered what the hell she could be singing about in this song. This chorus is so grand and sweeping that I of course hoped the lyrics and subject matter lived up to the sweeping grandeur of the melody. Well guess what…. holy shit.

Thought this photo was a funny little book review in and of itself.
The book sucks primarily because every character in it is a real piece of shit. Like an Altman film but somehow Altman could make that work for me. Or at least he did in “Nashville”. Not “Shortcuts” though. But that’s a whole different section on the website.

What would you recommend we drink to accompany the different Dandys albums?
Yes. I’m going to say the first record is Tanqueray and tonic with a lime. Come Down is really Jager with a beer back. It’s thick and foggy in your head. It’s a young man’s drink. Whiskey and soda, of course, is Thirteen Tales. Courvoisier on the rocks for Monkey House.Great! What the hell is Courvoisier?
Courvoisier XO – it’s a cognac that very rich hip-hop guys drink. Y’know, on second thoughts, I think Come Down is Chartreusee in the winter, or a Pims cup if you listen to it in the summer. Odditorium is definitely French wine, and then you can move straight to port – actually, I think Earth to the Dandy Warhols is more like that. Odditorium, there’s a definite New York thing to that. I think it’s tequila with a Rolling Rock beer back. It’s a very New-Yorky beer. Hey, I should put this online to go with our Capitol Years 1995-2007 release.

This is the image on the cover of “No Less Than Victory” by Jeff Shaara, the book I read last week whilst in the South. Kills me. This was the coolest book on WWII I’ve ever read. This guy manages to avoid the dialogue cliches of the genre but still gets the occaisional macho dramatic scene to really happen. Damn. So good. You really should read this.

I called two different places whose numbers were listed in the paper down here “if you would like to volunteer”.
The first one said they didn’t have anything for me and told me to ask local people if they knew anyone to ask. The second told me that all of the cleanup jobs were paid positions hired by BP and I’d have to apply for one if I wanted to help. Wtf?!!! No wonder there are maybe tens or hundreds of thousands of dying birds/fish/animals etc and maybe tens or dozens of people working to save them.
Anyhoo, they took my info and said if I was interested in helping out around an office they would give me a call. I said “sure, do it”, but its been days and they seem to have blown me off.
Idiots rule.
