Last spring The Dandy Warhols kicked off the celebration of the thirteenth anniversary of their watershed album Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia by performing each of the album’s thirteen tracks in thirteen different locations around downtown Portland. These stripped down guerrilla street performances were filmed for posterity by Into The Woods and will premiere Sunday, October 27th at the Hollywood Theater in NE Portland.
The evening is set to begin with acoustic performances of Dandys tunes by friends of the band (to be determined), followed by the video premiere, and finishing with a Q&A session with The Dandy Warhols.
Plus, one lucky fan will have an opportunity to perform a Dandys cover live on-stage. Fans can record their most interesting Dandys cover – from 1995’s Dandys Rule OK all the way through to 2012’s This Machine. To enter, post your cover song link on the Dandys Facebook timeline (at ) with the hashtag #TheDandyWarholsCoverOK. Anyone can enter, but to win one must attend the show at Hollywood Theater October 27th. Because the prize is playing the song, duh, if you’re not there how can you even win?
Tickets for the show are $12 and are available at the door. This event is all-ages.

Three things:
ITEM: We’re about week away from Festival Corona Capital in Mexico City (SAT 12 OCT). Now word comes down today that Zia (DJ Rescue) will be spinning the night before (FRI 11 OCT) at Legión Americana. Drop by, it’ll be a hoot!
ITEM: Hey PDX’ers don’t make plans for October 27th, we’re having the premiere of our 13 Songs in 13 Places videos that night at The Hollywood Theatre. We’re still waiting on the ticket info for some reason, so we’ll have it for you next week, as well as details on a fun contest we’re putting on to go with the event.
ITEM: Courtney sat down with what we are told is the big whoop with rock in the Balkans, take a look HERE if you read Serbian. (I don’t!)
Happy weekend, everybody.

Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, Sherlock
Since I don’t see them til they’ve been going for years I love this new trend in cinema where they make like an 80 hour movie and every 50 minutes they give you the option to stop. |
(2004) Ajax doesn’t die in the Iliad nor was he a giant biker but besides that its pretty awesome. |

(2013) So inappropriately cast that even I couldn’t make it to wherever it is that Leonardo DiCaprio comes in. |

I’m having vacation. It’s awesome. I also am so glad to be back in the calm and conservatively witty elegance of an Elkins novel.
That last one I read was pretty full on (It kinda fell apart toward the end but the guy just kept writing down amazing ideas anyway) and before that one I had lived thru a Cussler novel which was probably the lowest writing I’ve ever read even from him (or rather his very impressive Warhol-like assembly line/sweatshop factory of pop novels).
So here I am with not an airplane or desert island novel but really just my perfect vacation novel from the ACTUAL inventor of the show BONES.
It’s like heaven but where there’s still the occasional murder.
