Zia on Same Five Questions

Hey gang, I was featured last week on this cool site The Same Five Questions. Check it out.

One. Which of the seven deadliest sins make for the best art?
I’m not sure but all the great artists are guilty of at least one as none of the great artists ever seem well balanced.

Two. For what are you going to need a little more evidence?
2007

Three. For personal creativity (or productivity), are you better served by contentment or restlessness?
Restlessness for sure.

Four. Likeliest occurrence within your lifetime: true peace, total war, or the arrival of spacemen/spacewomen?

I will spend my life striving for inner peace and hopefully be aware of the moments that I achieve it, I can’t imagine total war and I like to believe spacemen and women have been here for quite some time.

Five. Select/discuss any one of the following options.
Five-a: You lost it as a child and you want it back.

I really do feel like this a lot. I lived in a fairie land of happiness and contentment until I turned 12 and then it slowly started to chip away to be replaced by restlessness and doubt (though I still consider myself happier than the average human, it’s not the same)

Five-b: You are concerned about your food and its origins.
Yes of course, it’s terribly shocking for me to see how many people still just don’t give a damn what they’re eating or where it came from.

Five-c: These are your generation’s greatest successes.
Hmm, I think that’s for the next generation to answer.

Five-d: For you, this is the book, play, recording, painting, poem, scripture or (item X) that made all the difference.
Oh jeeze, Maxfield Parish, Beatles-White Album, Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon, Willie Nelson-All, Rolling Stones-Through the Past Darkly, Exile on Main St., Kurt Vonnegut Jr., Ray Bradbury, Grabriel Garcia Marquez, LSD, Marijuana, Harold and Maude, Easy Rider

Five-e: Do you have a question for me? (What is it?)

Hmm, I can’t think of anything. I hope your satisfied with my answers.

The day has arrived and, for lack of a better name (suggestions welcome), Zia, Kirk & Christa get to do another old school country/gospel set. Rotture and New Deal Vodka are offering up $3 drink specials to all the early birds from 9-10pm. Just one more reason to get there early. This biggest reason being we go on at 9:15pm. Kirk and I will also be trading off DJing between bands. This is a great night for being prompt.

DJ RESCUE @ Rotture (PDX) FEBRUARY 18

It’s been really neat for “Zia & Kirk” to be asked so often to do our country covers set. I didn’t expect it but I LOVE it. We’ve even added several songs to our repertoire because of it. Anyway, this night will be a fun one to catch us and a few other fun bands. Still working on some details like drink specials and stuff, I’ll keep you posted.

European Utopia

Howdy folks,

Some friends of mine, Kurt Eisenlohr and Meme Medici are throwing a party to raise awareness about a potentially amazing village in Italy soon to be alternative european utopia.

Properties are going for as little at $10,00, with 2 bdrm houses on them!  Could be great.

Anyway, I’ve been asked to sing a few of the songs I do on Mondays at Karaoke From Hell, Kirk (guitar player from KFH) will be joining me on acoustic guitar.

Another cool thing about this event is that label mates 1776 will be playing as well.  I gonna watch those guys rock, get my fortune told and then sing a few country covers.   Oh and it’s only $6. (the price on the flyer is wrong).  See you See you tonight at Rotture/Branx (315 SE 3rd)!

BTW: Logan Lynn Listening Party Sunday

Our label mate Logan Lynn is receiving significant ink ‘n pixels about his new record From Pillar to Post so we thought we would throw Logan an old fashioned Dandys-style listening party this Sunday night.  Hell yeah.  And if you’re in Portland  you can come to Logan’s party for freezies. After sufficient digestion of Logan’s awesome new disc, Rescue, the famous DJ who shares the same DNA as Zia because she is Zia, will be spinning tunes on what she calls a turntable, because that’s what DJs do. This party will have food stuff and drink stuff, and probably someone will attempt to take their clothes off.  Then what?  I don’t know, probably something “adult.”  (This party is twenty-one and over, but really if you’re under twenty-one, stop trying to grow up so fast and enjoy being so adorably young.)

Here are the details in the popular un-Gothman-rambling prose version:

Zia at Literary Death Match Tonight

Hey folks, I’m one of the judges at the Literary Death Match tonight.

Not exactly sure what that means but it sounds like a good time.  Arthur Bradford, author of Dog Walker will be one of the contestants,  if you don’t come see him read tonight at least go out and get his books.  He’s pretty awesome.  Maybe I’ll see some of you down there.
