And we’re back…

Day 5.

This is my brave crew who are off to Tasmania with me now.

I happened to meet Gordon Ramsey’s head chef (Melbourne) and he’s meeting us at the Hobart restaurant he used to work at.

We may have to fight off Tasmanian devils and that crazy kind of bird that eats sheep and can break into cars, but if you look closely at each of these faces you’ll know that we will succeed.  Each of us has stashed a 9 year old bottle of Bordeaux wine for this occasion so we’re fighting for more than just our lives here, we’re fighting for our religion.

Brisbane, Real Live

This is exactly what our show felt like. Or, well, that’s what I think now.  I hope the performance/execution was ok, ’cause it was broadcast live across Australia.   If I tried to describe the difference of REAL live recordings and “live” records I can only say that if you’ve only bought “live”records then you’ve probably never heard a real live recording.

Well it is what it is. Can’t wait to hear it.

Kinda.

Zealous Day 2

Day 2.

This family is up and in the hot tub by 7 am.  Gotta respect the amount of zeal that must take.

More Brisbane cityscape.

Midnight juggernauts. They’re really good live.

Dan Black is amazing. Whoa.

By the way, TESSERACT turned out to be a very good book. A number of modern fiction cliches but this guy has such a strong and interesting “thing” that they seem intrinsic to the whole trip. Really good. And way more depth than the beginning had indicated. Definitely read it.
Bravo, dude.

Again Hotel Life Again

Day 1.
I call this one “again hotel life again”.

The two things that make this really mean something to me are the Grateful Dead shirt and the Star Wars pillowcase.  I’ve carried that fucker around for years. Through airports.   Across continents.  It helps me sleep.

Then, of course, perfectly three  – or more likely four (but definitely not five) – star stylings are a hugely repetitive part of my life too.  Not only of my life but of all touring rock bands who are good enough to achieve international travel and accommodations paid for by the promoter.

Nice.

I think I’m going through a phase in my life right now where I’m really appreciating how cool all the little details are and not really sweating too much of the negative shit.   If it persists til the end of this tour I’m pretty sure I will not be bummed…. But then again I’m pretty drunk right now.

Site News 24 Sept

Dandywarhols.com will be unavailable for maybe four hours on Sunday morning (Pacific) to replace a busted something-or-other.  Also, our server people are upgrading their network this weekend, so service might be spotty.  Why don’t you go see a movie or something.

GOTHMAN

The Tesseract

Ok, I’m on my way to Australia and this is my book. So far its frustratingly over-descriptive and way too self-consciously cool…. but I must add that at least it actually IS cool, enough.  Cool in an exotic foreign poverty kind of way. Oooh. Deep.

By the time I get to Australia I’ll be long since done and will letcha know if its worth the fourteen bucks and/or the time it took to read it instead of something else.

Courtney Movie Review: Lost in La Mancha and Death of a President

Death of a President

(2006)

Oh my god, it’s a veritable coup d’etat of great acting, directing, editing, writing, cinematograhy, thinking and above all genius casting. Wow, this is genius on every level.  See it now if you didn’t then.

Lost in La Mancha

(2002)

If you’ve booked your elderly lead because he looks pathetic enough to play Don Quixote, or if you’re going to lease a nearly wothless tract of land to shoot in Spain when the Spaniard leasing agent says “well there’s only one leetle problem with it”,  just walk away.
