Hey all. Everything is running smooth as can be. We’re back from Canada. Working on some amazing recordings. Don’t worry you’ll hear more Dandys in the next 2 yrs than you’ve heard in the last 10. Probably. AND SOON! Check out the few Canada shirts we have left over. We’re not reprinting them. Once they’re gone, they’re gone! Look for some cool live dates we’ll be adding shortly. Can’t say anything yet, but once again we’ll shortly prove we rule.
We’re here and full up on Poutine. The border folk were very nice, nice enough that we didn’t need to get off the bus. Always a plus since it was 9am and everyone was trying to sleep of the Sasquatch fest. Sasquatch was great for us. Music on the mainstage was shut down for 2 and a half hours by the time we hit the Wookie stage. Our good friends The Black Angels warmed the crowd up for us and then The Warhols KILLED IT! Luck Canada, the band is on a roll and mega excited to be doing gigs again. Looking forward to Calgary tonight. Lots of kids coming down so if you haven’t got tickets be sure to get em. I think there is a handful left but that was last Wednesday. Check the ticket links for availability. Can’t wait to hit the mall in Edmonton tomorrow. Does the world’s biggest mall have the world’s biggest food court with the world’s biggest corn dog? I love travelling. See ya soon.
So check it. Our friend Highway Bob whipped up this awesome new t-shirt design for us. Highway can pretty much do this kind of shit better than anyone else, so it’s a fucking honor, you know? Anyway, the thing is, with these shirts, is that they will only be available at our Canadian shows. Duhn duhn duhn. Yeah, so if you want to pick it up, you best be getting your tickets toot suite. Don’t fucking wait, either, because we can’t tell you how often people wait until the last god damned minute to buy tickets and then they sell out — they always sell out — and then they write to us asking us to sneak them in. Don’t be that deadbeat! Get your tickets TODAY.
Hey all, Western Canada is coming up sooner than ever. Bring on the Molson Canadian (I swear I like it, it’s like Budweiser but without the formaldehyde. Anyhow, tickets are still available but going fast. Especially Calgary. Oh, and besides tour, be prepared for something amazing we’re brewing here at The Oddy to pop up in the next couple of weeks… stay tuned.
Oh yeah, besides Poutine (and that’s Quebec really) does Canada have it’s own cuisine? I’m not being snide here, I’m a total foodie as they say. I love eating things. I ate a guinea pig once. Tim Hortons and Poutine. That’s all I know, but I want to know more.
You’re in PDX Friday? Might consider going to the Buckman Auction Event at the Melody Ballroom. You’ll be able to see our decoupage guitar there along with all the other cool guitars from the PDX music community.
Want to help out, but for some reason you’re not allowed in the Melody Ballroom after an “incident”? Well, our guitar is on eBay. You might consider bidding on it.
We are participating in a very special compilation featuring Portland recording artist called Bridging The Distance, out now on the Arena Rock Recording Company label in PDX. Proceeds from this compilation benefits p:ear, who do great things for Portland youth.
The whole record is cover songs, with PDX bands like The Thermals, who cover Zeppelin, Blitzen Trapper, who do a take on Heart, and The Decemberists, who master Fleetwood Mac. (We’re covering The Cult’s “She Sells Sanctuary”, FYI.)
So yeah, check it out, it’s for a great cause, and the line-up of PDX artists is legendary.
Check it, dogg. We were asked to participate in this years “Art Rocks” with the Decemberists, the Shins, Modest Mouse, and other Portland big shot bands. We all decorated mini guitars and those guitars, in turn, will be autioned off and the proceeds will benefit Buckman Arts Magnetic Elementary School here in PDX.
We’ve got a little jaunt coming up at the end of May that bleeds into the month of June. We start off at Sasquatch on May 27 (tickets now available). Then, we head Very North to Canada, taking in Calgary (May 29), Edmonton (May 30), Vancouver (June 1), and drop off in Victoria (June 2, too close to McCabe’s B-Day!). Tickets for the Canadian gigs will be on sale soon. We’ll let you know.
Our favorite home town station, 94.7, is having a special “Nineties at Noon” today, featuring our record …Come Down. Check it out streaming online today at noon (pdt)
Hey, we’re getting ready to go into the mixing phase of our new record. Should be pretty speedy. Yeah. The band took a week or so off, and in the meantime, our friends, The Upsidedown, mixed their new record (it’s fucking awesome) at The Oddy. That’s something to really look forward to.
We have some dates we’re going to announce very, very soon. Hang on for those, because they’re going to surprise you.
Lee has some special projects coming down the pike. Can’t tell you what exactly they are going to be yet (it’s kinda a secret, so keep it under your hat), but the result of these massive efforts will be a lot more Dandys content for you to ingest. Stay tuned.
In other news: Gothy (that’s me, you can tell by the rambling, run-on sentences) is now in New York, doing the Dandys bidding in the Big Apple. If you see him, say hello, and maybe give him a ciggy — they’re damn expensive here!
Anything else? Huh… Guess not.
Have fun, rockers.
PS: Oh yes. We now have a Japanese companion site to dandywarhols.com —
