Hey, If you’re in New York City, there are going to be a couple of screenings of Dig this weekend — tonight, Friday, 8:30 at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center, and Sunday (03/27/04) at 12:30 p.m. at the MoMA Gramercy Theater. If you can, check it out.
Hey, remember when Ondi Timoner was following Jonestown and us around, like for almost a decade. Remember we told you she was making a movie about us? Remember you said that the movie would never see the light of day? Well you were right there–movie’s can’t been shown in the light of day. It’s almostimpossible.
Ondi’s finished movie, Dig, is kicking the shit out of everyone who comes in contact with it. Courtney narrates the tale of two notorious bands forever entwined, one on a path of clear destruction and the other …. Jesus, that sounds corny. Hopefully, you will be able to see the film for yourself in the cool theater in the cool part of your town soon. Meanwhile, visit the movie’s site, digthemovie.com for news and other info on the flick.
Guess I should’ve mentioned this some time ago to be included on The Warhols news page but we have an hour long special on our radio show on Christmas Day (7.30pm GMT) with Brent and Courtney which is entitled ‘A Brief History of…The Dandy Warhols’. The Show is called “The Evening Sequence with Tom Robinson” and the station (which is also online) is 6 Music (BBC).
From the title of the feature you’ll probably guess that it goes from the first version of the xmas single through Rules OK, The Black Album, …Come Down, Are Sound and Monkey House. It’s an hour special on the actual show but as Courtney gave us plenty of chat in the end there’s a full version which is over 30 minutes longer that I’ll be putting online after the radio transmission.
Hope that makes sense and that you have a top Christmas time of it
Hey. We’re almost done with this Bowie tour. After that we have a couple of weeks off and then we’re playing some Big Day Out gigs in Australia, which is something we have always wanted to do. But you know what, we’ve been having a fucking great time and everything–a good god damned motherfucking great time, but we’re pretty tired. So it will be good to have a few days off at home. You know?
The kids at the label, God bless ’em, want us to tell you that PLAN A is getting ready to be released as a single in the UK on the 24th. Check it out, because it has a version of “The Jean Genie” on it that’s supposed to be something. And if you haven’t already, check out the video we shot for PLAN A using money we had left over from the LAST HIGH video shoot. Who says we just use our money to have a good time? Oh wait, that was us.
Courtney and Fathead are interviewed on Sirius Satellite Radio this Thursday (October 2) at 5pm, with five rebroadcasts that will happen at 8pm Thursday, and then midnight, 3am, 7am and 10am on Friday (all times EST). They tell us that anyone can listen by logging onto the Sirius website and hitting the link to stream 100 for Sirius Sessions and entering an email address. Nice one.
If you have not been able to catch us on the road this year, we have a fifteen minute sliver of what awaits you at one of our jam packed, sweat drenched three hour experiences. Recorded by our sound guy Clark Stiles in Boulder, CO on September 2nd, we have an extra groovy version of “Genius” that you will have to hear, followed by an out of control rendering of “Solid”. You can find these tunes on the SOUNDS page. Have fun, and we’ll see you soon.
