Warhols The Toast of London

While making appearances at CD UK and the NME Awards in London, the Warhols got pretty chummy with the likes of Nick Rhodes and Boy George. Don’t believe me? Well, don’t take our word for it — go ahead, ask Michele.

Bohemian Nominated As Best Single @ NME Awards

The Dandy Warhols’ “Bohemian Like You” was nominated as Best Single for the 2001 NME Carling Awards. Other nominees in this category include Gorillaz, Ash, The Strokes, Ian Brown, and Kylie Minogue. Winners will be chosen by a VOTE OF THE PEOPLE (catch our drift here, folks? You + vote = Warhols win!!) at NME.COM. before 22 February 2002, 6pm GMT.

Winners will be announced at an awards show on 25 February 2002.

Courtney Voted Best Dressed

Courtney was voted one of the five Best Dressed gents in the latest
issue of British GQ. (02/12/02) UPDATE: Courtney was stripped of this
honor when it was learned that he was not, in fact, British. I guess
that was a requirement or something. Oh those tricky people! (03/07/02)

Another Trip To the UK

The Warhols will be making another short trip to Britain this month for
TV appearances, awards shows, and general merry making. On 25 February,
the band will be attending the NME Awards, looking to pick up the prize
for Best Single of the Year. In addition, the band will appear on CD UK
on 2 March.

Big Scandal: Zia REMARRIES?!?!

No, it’s not a big scandal. It seems when Zia and Travis tied the knot last fall, the marriage license was never turned in. D’oh! To remedy their situation of “living in sin”, Zia and Travis decided to “renew” their vows during their recent trip to Portugal. With The Reverend Courtney Taylor-Taylor officiating, the lovely couple were married –again– in a small, private Portuguese ceremony.

Get Off Re-Release

We forgot to add to the site that “Get Off” is going to be re-released as a single in England. The single will feature different b-sides and cover art than the original version released in May 2000.

Two Week European Media Blitz Thing

The Warhols are slipping out of the soggy confines of The Rose City to make a two week swing through Germany, Spain, Sweden, and Portugal. Once there, our beloved heroes of task, will most assuredly, dazzle European television and radio audiences with live performances and interviews.

Socks will be knocked off.

Albion Gold

The Warhols received word Friday that their album Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia had reached Gold status in the UK. Released in June 2000, Thirteen Tales standing was undoubtedly aided by the band’s recent reintroduction to the British charts on the strength of the hit single “Bohemian Like You”. The band would like to thank its legions of loyal British followers, without whom this honor would have been impossible.

This is the band’s second Gold Record.
