Holy Moses. What a journey. Are you fugging kidding me. Whose genius idea was this? To write a book about WWII told by the greatest winemakers in history. Incredible. It’s not a linear story so much as a collection laid out in mostly chronological order and including everything from the Lafites to Perrier to Adolf and Hermann to the children of Domaine Drouhin.
You may recall the 2011 auction of our one of a kind holiday sweater vest (as seen above modeled by our young Jedidiah), the proceeds of which were donated to charity. The auction was ridiculously successful in raising much needed dough, and, at the end, the winner very graciously donated the sweater back to us so we could auction it off again and hopefully raise more money for good causes.
This year, we have chosen Oregon Citizens for Safe Drinking Water, “a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to protecting the drinking water of all Oregonians through education and advocacy,” and the Fender Music Foundation, “a national music charity that provides instruments to music education programs across the country.” Please check out both organizations even if you have no plans for bidding, maybe send ’em some dough straight away.
This sweater auction runs from now until December 29th, 2012. Check out the eBay auction page HERE. Happy bidding.
Alrighty if you were with us Saturday night you tasted Chateau Taylor-Taylor with one of the dinner courses. Here’s a pic of it with Andreas’ (Zues chef) gravlox w/caper and peppers. This guy sure can cure him some salmon. Firm and smokey, this is great stuff and it flatters the hell out of my wine of which there’s only about twenty-some cases left so if you’re wanting to get in on it, now is the time.
If you are thinking of ordering some fine Dandys merch this holiday season (like this fun/funny Xmas sweater shirt from 2011), take note: the deadline for U.S. orders to be delivered before the Christmas holiday is Friday, December 14th.
And, as the merchandise office will be closed December 21-January 7, all orders placed during that period will not be processed and filled until after the office opens in the New Year.
I was just talking about this to a friend of mine, the ghost who lives in my apartment, and she was all “when’s that Anton remix of Autumn Carnival comin’ out, I gots things to do??” I said I didn’t know, I only work here, and please, please put some clothes on, ghost.
How could the notorious Anton Alfred Newcombe (he of Brian Jonestown Massacre fame) have never remixed a song by your The Dandy Warhols? This is a question that was asked, and then immediately rectified. Voilà! Anton’s remix of ‘The Autumn Carnival,’ here in this SPIN article, which also mentions DIG a lot.
One of our favorite moments this month in Australia included a visit to Phillips Shirts’ Archive a Shop by Phillips in Melbourne. We had a blast! Thanks for the threads, you guys.
A whole lotta youse guys failed miserably my test to take the day off and have done your best imitation of a clamor monster (muppet??) for FREE Christmas songs – even though, honestly, you should have these already, what’d ya just delete the files every year, what’s wrong with you??
The popular tune “Little Drummer Boy” (about state-run drum circles, which is a thing I’m sure they will do some sketch about on “Portlandia”, now that I gave ’em the idea) is from 1994, and this “Silent Night” tune (a song about murdering Santas and naked ladies, if Google image search is to be believed) we did from all the way back in 2011, before weed was legal in Washington state. Download these tunes for zero dollars as xmas.dandywarhols.com. Send so to your friends! SO EASY TO GIVE!
Just a quick note to remind you that tickets for this Saturday’s show at Melkweg in Amsterdam are now on sale. Tell your friends, if you know what’s good for ya.
