As you can see from the orangey-red spot right down there near the tip, this is not a “white” pizza, this is supposed to be a normal slice of cheese pie cut in half. I’m finding that not only do small towns tend to like their pizza to be triangles of cheesebread, but so does Portland.
SO IF you are in Portland and like sauce on your pizza, I’ve found that the best I’ve had (so far) is: Escape From New York Pizza on NW 23rd and Hoyt. It is indistinguishable from Stromboli or St Mark’s style New York slice.
We’ve sold-out the dinner portion of our December 14th event at Mission Theatre in record time, but we still have spaces for the performance part of the evening: The Dandy Warhols will perform a live score to the following silent films:
Le Ballet Mécanique (1924) The Very Eye Of Night (1958) No. 11 Mirror Animations (1956) Un Chien Andalou (1929)
Tickets are $15 and are available HERE. This is a 21+ event.
NEW video from Fathead’s Immigrant Union, this is the latest single I CAN’T RETURN. If you’re seeing BRMC this weekend in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, guess what? Immigrant Union will be opening for ’em. Neat, huh?
This is Radis Noir – a new side project from Sunset Valley’s Herman Jolly and our own Peter Holmström. This is the first released track called MIRAGE. You can buy this digital single at AMAZON or iTunes. I suggest you do so!
We had such a great time last year that the folks at McMenamins brought us back again for one of our fancy pants dinner and show nights. Saturday, December 14th, at the Mission Theater in NW Portland it’s The Dandys Dinner and Show Show. This year we’ve got a five-course dinner created by Black Rabbit executive chef Kenny Giambalvo, with accompanying wines chosen by Mr. Courtney Taylor-Taylor. And then after the dinner, it’s a silent film presentation with live score by The Dandy Warhols. This event is strictly for ages twenty-one and over and your dressing your best would be greatly appreciated.
Then, Haaaappy Biiiirthday! Who’s ready for some spankings? Oh, we are. We’re turning the big two-oh in 2014 and we’re celebratin’ early with our annual holly-day shindig Sunday December 15th at the Crystal Ballroom – who just so happens to be celebrating, too – one hundred years! Yes, like the Cure song. Join us, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Modern Kin, and Bloco Alegria on the Crystal’s bouncy-bounce dance floor as we toast the holiday season with mirth and music. Then, after the show, join Zia (DJ Rescue) downstairs at Lola’s Room for a 21+ dance party that’s probably going to be pretty ridiculous. (all-ages/$20adv.)
Sad news this Sunday morning with the word of Lou Reed’s passing at age 71. To say that his impact on every person you or I know was deep is a gross understatement. Here’s lookin’ at you, Lou.
