Delta Omega

Well I’m flying again and this guy isn’t helping.  Neither is Delta.

When I was 19 I werked at a bar that hosted poetry nights.  Old guys would occasionally get onstage and start rattling off what they felt were hip phrases and cool reference points and god it was fuggin boring and I just wanted them to JUST SAY IT!  Whatever the hell it is that you mean, just say it.

That’s what this book is doing to me now.  It reads like a catalogue of hip reference points and sassy phrases that one must dig and grindones way through to find the storythread.   I’ve found it twice so far….I think.  But my head hurts.  I think this man needs an editor.

As for Delta, I have 3 hrs in this airport and as I’m flying alone and all day I spent the xtra dough for first class.  Can I get into the 1st class lounge? NO!  Wtf?  I can assure you if there is ever any terrorism or airrage associated with Delta I bet its got nothing to do with the U.S. Govt or this shitty consumer culture we’ve created and now must labor under or god putting OUR oil under THEIR desert.

NOPE its Delta.

The Development of Larger Thinkers

I was on brainyquote.com looking at Leonard Cohen quotes when I noticed that the top of the “related authors” list was Justin Bieber. The world is a funny place, the internet is even funnier.

Well I read all the quotes from both and the main difference seems to be that Leonard says wise and helpful things about the nature of our world and generally does what is known as “holding a mirror up to reality” to show the reader a new or different perspective on something which is familiar.

The Beiber kid talks only about himself of course and mostly explains what he wants and wants to be. It was kinda sweet to read actually. Well I don’t know what I was expecting but it certainly begs the question “at what point in our development do we become larger thinkers?”

This little excursion reminds me of something I read at nine years old which blew my mind and has stuck with me ever since: small minds discuss people, mediocre minds discuss events, great minds discuss ideas.

Thee Oh Sees

This has been my favorite band for the months since the Calgary festival we played with them. Check it out then just enjoy an hour or so of browsing thru the zillions of live clips of them as well as songs next to industrial ports of call and shipping lanes or whatever. They’re fugging perfect. They’re playing Portland tomorrow night so if yer in town find em and see em. I’m not in town but I’m trying to arrange to drive back just for this gig. We’ll see if i make it but its gonna be hard. Life can be so cruel.

World Change Discussions

Has everyone been checking out the one young world summit clips? Check out this one at prosumer-reports.com

I don’t usually find “world change” discussions to be inspiring but I’m pretty excited by a lot of this although it’s hard to find bits of it that aren’t just a lot of enthuiastic shit talk from…yup, old people.
