Apparently this book was discovered as a complete manuscript after Crichton’s death in 2008. I didn’t even know he had died. Well the book is pretty damn fun. It’s got me through four flight delays and one cancellation, three van rides and a seaplane.
One thing though, it’s been a while since I watched Captain Horatio Hornblower but I kept thinking that this was the same story. Or was it Yellowbeard.
I forgot to stop at Powells so this was kinda the only choice left to me from the PDX news stand. It has the word “pirate” in the title and right below it is the sentence: “Crichton’s ultimate adventure.” Ooh, that sounds great.
Well, seventy pages in I can tell you that it’s pretty goofy. It reads like a book for kids but with pummelings and daggery. This book also seems to have an abundance of wenching. Oh well, at least the swashbuckling is gonna commence any page now…
The Wolfmen are Marco Pirroni and Chris Constantinou, of Adam and the Ants, Onassid, Sinead O’Connor and tons more awesome music. Their second album, Married to the Eiffel Tower, mixed by Courtney Taylor Taylor (I know that guy), will be out in early 2011.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I’m in the South eagerly awaiting the big feast. All the kinfolk are sittin around watching FOX news. Ya know, I had nearly forgotten how to hate, be small or even get petty and mean about other people whom I don’t even know. But now thanks to only fifteen minutes in front of the TV, I have high blood pressure and am ready to torture and/or kill complete strangers.
Wow, I feel so dark and creepy right now, like my insides have been defiled. I need to lay down in a field of daisies.
Cryin’ out loud. Now I know where psychos, rapists, and serial killers go to get jacked up for visiting some evil upon the good and the innocent.
Here is a movie review: Addams Family Values: It’s not a perfect movie, but on Thanksgiving Day it sure did cure the evil sickness that was put in me by accidentally watching 15 minutes of FOX News.
Courtney’s collaboration with The Wolfmen yields another single with the release of “Marilyn Monroe (Wam Bam JFK)” next Monday, November 29th. I’ll have the links for you to buy next Monday. What, you think I have all the answers right this minute?
Our wonderful day at the Moog factory. Naturally they have an all-Moog studio there. We jammed for about an hour and they recorded and filmed some of it. We also did an all-Moog per-version of “Green” which will heretofor be known as “Greener Than Green.” I think it might be awesome. We’ll see.
Now for the gig: well…speechless. Okay, no. Actually a religious experience for a lot of people. Including us. Besides being in love with this town, we are deeply in true love with this venue, The Orange Peel.
Asheville. Wow. I think I need to buy this guitar…. before someone does who takes it a little too seriously.
That circuit board sitting on the desk is Zia’s keyboard. Really. We’re at Moog HQ and they’re tricking out its little guts for her.
This band Hopewell is amazing. Giant two-drummer thing going on with art school vaguely jonestowny other thing. They’re very Janes Addiction-y too. Would make the most badass movie soundtrack ever.
