Monday Metal Moment: “Girl Nation”
Monday Metal Moment
Disneyland After Dark “Girl Nation”
Without anybody noticing, this guitar player was the coolest guitar player in all of hair metal. http://bit.ly/TDW-MMM

Monday Metal Moment
Mudhoney “Touch Me I’m Sick”
The grunge shot heard around the world. After this came out we couldn’t stop hearing about “the Seattle grunge”. Then it just became “grunge” and it didn’t go away for a long time. http://bit.ly/TDW-MMM

Motley Crue – “Looks That Kill”
This song and video was the beginning of the hair metal pandemic. It’s still one of my favorites.

Refused “New Noise”
I think we discovered this record about the same week this band split up in ‘98 or ‘99. Or at least split up the first time. They really wanted to move punk/metal forward and did but it took about eight years longer than they expected. http://bit.ly/TDW-MMM

“For Those About To Rock”
This track more than any other reveals to me the full extent and magnificence of Angus Young’s genius. Part of which must have been his ability to get his band to rise to the occasion year in and year out. Even the drum part is amazing.

Deep Purple “Smoke On The Water”
Nothing oblique about this one. Somehow in my mind this is like the original metal cut. It’s the first riff every rock kid learned to play on guitar. http://bit.ly/TDW-MMM

Rush – “Working Man”
This song was when Rush was still planning on being a metal band and it was working for them but they had yet to meet the visionary lyricist drummer Neil Peart who would alter their direction just enough. http://bit.ly/TDW-MMM

Rage Against The Machine “Killing In The Name”
This band needed to happen. It was inevitable and if you were around back then you knew it. http://bit.ly/TDW-MMM

Skinny Puppy “Tin Omen”
This is the track that got me fully into industrial music. Released in 1989 it got me interested in Ministry, Nitzer Ebb as well as local Portland industrial bands Factor Red and Strychnine Strand. Al Jourgensen was also involved on this track.
NO SHOWS WHAT?
